As a developmental neuropsychologist, I have training in Clinical Psychology, Neuropsychology, and Developmental Psychology. I use knowledge of typical brain development to evaluate, diagnose, and help treat children, adolescents, and young adults with a variety of conditions impacting development and learning. Evaluations are sought for a variety of reasons. These include testing to:
* Diagnose learning or developmental disabilities
* Determine eligibility for special education services
* Monitor academic and developmental progress
* Assist in development of Individualized Education Plans (IEP)
* Evaluate eligibility for accommodations in the classroom and on high-stakes testing
* Help secure certain disability benefits
* Complete private school admissions requirements
* Evaluate for gifted support services
The evaluations include a review of medical and educational records, clinical interview, observation of behavior, behavior rating scales, and a battery of standardized tests. These tests assess intellectual functioning, attention, learning and memory, language, visual-spatial skills, sensory and motor functioning, executive functions (working memory, organization, problem solving, inferential reasoning), academic abilities, emotional and behavioral functioning, adaptive functioning, and social skills.
