Mind ShaperSLP can help you take your child’s communication skills to the next level. My Goal is to help the 1 in 54 children diagnosed with autism grow up to be independent and successful adults through providing high quality therapy services and parent training that puts you in the driver’s seat of your child’s growth and development by providing fun and engaging individual speech-language therapy sessions for residents of NY and PA.

I’m Rebecca Robbins, a Speech-Language Pathologist who has spent most of my career working with children on the Autism Spectrum. Of the many settings I’ve worked in over the years, I’ve always loved the work I got to do in people’s homes because it gave me a chance to not only work with my students, but also with their parents. I love working in collaboration with parents and have always believed that parents are the experts on their children.

Over the years, I’ve come to realize that after a child has aged out of Early Intervention and Preschool programs, there’s really little to no opportunities for continued in-home training for families. Given Autism is known to be a diagnosis that challenges a child’s ability to transfer his knowledge from one setting to another, this has always boggled my mind. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard parents say, “He does it at school but he refuses to do it at home.” “I think he thinks that’s something he only has to do at school.” etc, etc, etc. That’s because we often need to train a child in multiple environments for him to realize this is something that needs to happen everywhere.

My goal is to put the power back in your hands as the parent by training and teaching you to do what I do in the therapy room. I may work with your child for 1 hour a week, but you’re with her for all the other hours she’s not engaged in some other activity. Imagine the power of all those hours being just as therapeutic as the 1 hour she engages in speech therapy.

Imagine the gains that can be made! And this doesn’t have to be another thing added to your already exhaustingly packed to-do list. It can just be naturally embedded into every interaction, activity or experience you and your child have and I want to show you how. It is my mission to help thousands of children to improve their ability to communicate and I want one of those children to be yours.
